Naomi Osaka Skincare Brand Is Launching Products for People With Darker Skin Tones

Recently, Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka let her social media followers know about her newest venture — the Naomi Osaka skincare line, KINLÒ. She said that it is going to be launched this fall with some products specifically designed for dark skin tones.

Naomi Osaka is definitely a star for all the right reasons! These past few years, she has done so well and built her status as her sport’s leading light both off and on the court. She’s only 23 years old, but has already ranked number 2 among single players by the Women’s Tennis Association and she has four Grand Slam titles under her belt. She has also been recently made known as Tatler’s Asia’s Most Stylish 2020 honouree and brand ambassadors for internationally renowned brands, including Tag Heuer and Louis Vuitton.

And now, she’s set to show her skills not just with a tennis racket, but also with a beauty brush. She is so ready to take over the world of beauty and skincare with the Naomi Osaka skincare brand, KINLÒ — her first-ever venture in the field. Her goals are to develop beauty solutions that cater to black skincare and the needs of people with darker skin tones.

She says that aside from the SPF 40 tinted face lotion, KINLÒ will also feature an SPF 50 sunblock, protective body spray, lip balm, and eye cream, and possibly, many more in the future. On top of that, all of the products to be released in the Naomi Osaka skincare line are specially formulated not just to provide dewy skin, but also to hold up during physical activity. 

According to Naomi: “What drew me towards this project is having memories of being a kid and not knowing how to protect my skin,” “This is a public health need. I used to tell people that I didn’t need to wear sunscreen—but even if you have melanin, you need to take care of your skin, and I am passionate about that.”

She continues to express her excitement about the Naomi Osaka skincare brand in a post on Instagram, saying, “I never thought I would ever start my own company, but I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be launching KINLÒ, a new brand of skin care products developed to protect and rejuvenate melanated skin tones. I hope these products can help a lot of people and potentially save lives because I really feel that we aren’t protecting ourselves as much as we could. More coming this Fall @kinloskin.”
